Sun Vietnam Officially Opens

Sun Microsystems and BT Frontline announced the official launch of Sun Vietnam with the opening of its Hanoi office. Sun Vietnam is a joint venture between Sun Microsystems and BT Frontline. The worldwide partner equity program is modeled on a franchising concept with partners to effectively manage a Sun branded operation.

According to Gan Boon San, President, Asia South, Sun Microsystems, the establishment of Sun Vietnam is significant. Vietnam is a key market for Sun with sustained potential. Sun is committed to assisting in the growth of Vietnam by providing access to cutting-edge enterprise-class technologies, as well as the development and cultivation of the community to rapidly adopt and adapt new technologies.

On the other hand, Steve Ting, Group Founder and Executive Chairman, BT Frontline said that their entry into Vietnam is a significant milestone for BT Frontline.

"With Vietnam in our folds, this will be the 11th country in our expansion across Asia, and it will bring our total strength to 5,800 IT professionals," said Steve.

Vietnam is one of the key growth drivers in Asia Pacific for Sun. The Asia Pacific region contributed 12% towards Sun's total revenue for the first quarter of FY09.
