Irdeto has opened a new office in Taiwan to broaden its presence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
The office joins Irdeto’s existing APAC locations in Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Thailand, and brings the total number of Irdeto’s offices worldwide to 26.
Located in the Xinyi District in Taipei, the Taiwan office will be responsible for developing business strategies and identifying growth opportunities in the fast growing digital, IPTV, and mobile TV markets. The local office will play an integral role in Irdeto’s strategy to strengthen its dominant position in the conditional access (CA) and Digital Rights Management (DRM) market in the region. Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC) has recently announced plans for digital migration of the cable TV system by 2013.
“In the past 15 months, we have added three new offices in the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore and Tokyo, because we believe so strongly in the growth potential in the Asian pay-TV market,” stated Graham Kill, CEO of Irdeto.
“The Taiwan office opening allows us the ability to not only provide our proven solutions, but to assist Taiwanese operators in maximizing their growth potential in the digital TV era by providing our expanded solution offerings.”
Taiwan is currently home to approximately 58 cable service operators with a combined total of nearly 4.8 million households, representing a 48% penetration rate. |
