Nokia Siemens Open New Facility in Chennai |

Nokia Siemens Networks has inaugurated a new facility at Oragadam near Chennai that will make and distribute mobile communication equipment.
Inaugurated in the presence of Simon Beresford Wylie, the chief executive officer of Nokia Siemens Networks, Hon. Dr. KM Karunanidhi, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Thiru A Raja, Minister of Telecom, Government of India, the new facility will receive an investment of about USD 70 million (Rs 300 Crore) spread over the next three years.
“Our operations in India are a prime example of where we feel we can build on our existing leadership with prudent, customer focused investment. With its proximity to the local market improving our responsiveness and reducing the carbon footprint of new network deployments, this additional facility epitomizes our global strategy to build a responsible, customer focused business,” said Simon Beresford Wylie, the chief executive officer of Nokia Siemens Networks.
The new Oragadam facility will manufacture Nokia Siemens Networks mobile base station controllers, Flexi EDGE BTS, microwave radio and access line-card products, as well as other telecom equipment. |
