Acision announced that their SMSC systems delivered a total of 11.6 billion SMS messages during the month of September, the highest recorded monthly messaging traffic in Indonesia.
The peak period was over the 2008 Hari Raya and Lebaran where the Acision SMSC delivered 1.4 billion SMS messages in just 3 days. This is a 25% increase over the average daily traffic of 376 million.
As one of the fastest growing mobile markets in South East Asia, Indonesian operators have to anticipate the load that the festive season places across their networks.
According to Boudewijn Pesch, Managing Director of Acision, Asia Pacific, festive seasons are peak messaging and revenue generating periods for many mobile operators in the region.
"For mobile operators, being equipped with a stable, high performance, proven messaging system is critical in handling the surge in SMS traffic and ensuring that such substantial volumes of messages are delivered within seconds," said Pesch.
Acision's SMSC systems are deployed with the three major mobile operators in Indonesia - PT Telkomsel, PT Indosat, and PT Natrindo. |
