Do Not Use iPhone USB Adapters, Says Apple |

Apple is recalling the iPhone 3G USB power adapters shipped with the handset in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Mexico, and several other Latin American countries.
The adapters, originally packaged with the iPhone 3G, apparently contain flimsy metal prongs that are susceptible to snapping.
The metal prongs on many of the ultra-compact USB adapters sold with the 3G iPhone model could break off, putting owners at risk. Apple has urged owners to swap the adapters that came with the phone to minimize risk. The faulty adapters have injured no one as yet.
Until users can exchange the faulty adapters for a redesigned version, identified by a green dot in one of its corners, they should charge the phone by connecting the USB cable to a computer, said Apple.
Apple said it will replace adapters free of charge and that the fixed versions should be available on 10 October. Replacement chargers can be ordered via Apple's website or at an Apple store starting the same day. |
