Tele Atlas Delivers Digital Map to India

Tele Atlas has announced the availability of Tele Atlas digital maps for India, which includes 5,463 sub-districts, 593 districts and 35 states and union territories (UTs), and includes detailed street level coverage for approximately 109,000 kilometers in eight major cities: Ahmadabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR , Hyderabad-Secunderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

The announcement marks a significant expansion of the company’s digital map database in Asia Pacific, which now covers thirteen countries and territories in navigable map quality offered by Tele Atlas and its partners.

“In order to be successful in India, Tele Atlas is committed to working with our industry partners to help localize applications, products, solutions and services to the Indian context to address the specifics of the country’s unique road network and road user behavior,” said Arnout Desmet, Director of Operations, Tele Atlas APAC.

“Our digital map offering for India leverages innovative map production technology and approaches that fulfill these complex requirements and will help ensure that our partners can meet the rising market demand for navigation, map and location-based services and technologies, which at their core all rely on the coverage of their map for success.”

The product is also available for partner application developers and device manufacturers in established and emerging market segments such as personal navigation, automotive, Internet and wireless.

The release of Tele Atlas maps for India follows the formation of the company’s joint venture in India, Tele Atlas Kalyani India Pvt. Ltd., which was announced earlier this year.
