Citrix Systems has opened its second Research and Development (R&D) facility in Bangalore, India which will be focused on enhancing the development and delivery of its solutions.
The application delivery infrastructure provider plans to invest close to USD 200 million in the centre over the next 5 years which, when operational, will open up some 500 new jobs in engineering.
Based on the full cycle of development work, the new facility will handle all aspects of research including design, coding, functional testing, documentation, engineering, management and escalation.
Citrix said the facility will enhance its ability to create synergies across its various product lines by tapping into the growing pool of engineering talent available in India.

“It is only natural for us to continue to expand our new product development capabilities for the global and local markets.”
The R&D centre will focus on development work for a wide range of products in the areas of Application Networking, Desktop and Application Virtualization, 3-D Graphics, Multi-media, and Voice over IP technologies. In addition to product development, the centre will also provide customers with sales and technical support, as well as offer market analysis, testing and quality assurance.
