Revenue for the online gaming market in the Asia/Pacific region is expected to grow rapidly, chalking up approximately USD 21.1 billion by 2013.
According to high-tech market research firm In-Stat, key factors driving this growth include growing household Internet penetration, increased content development for online-specific games, and the unique experience that online gaming offers.
China has been single-out as the fastest-growing market for online gaming and is expected to become the largest market in Asia in 2009. "The online gaming market in Asia/Pacific is growing in tandem with the significant increase in consumer Internet use," says Stephanie Ethier, In-Stat analyst.
"In addition, the number of market players is rapidly expanding; therefore, improved content and a greater variety of games are keys to success in this market." |
