Infosys Technologies said yesterday that it has decided to set up a new development centre in Kolkata, India.
According to the IT business solutions provider, Kolkata is increasingly being recognised as the new “hotspot for IT”.
In the India market, Bangalore has always been synonymous with everything that is IT so much so that it is, at times, referred to as the next Silicon Valley.
However, according to Infosys, with Kolkata’s bright talent pool and IT potential, the state is poised to become an important IT destination in the future.
The project is valued at Rs. 500 crore and looks to create some 5,000 jobs over a period of time.
“We are very excited to announce our intention to set up a presence in Kolkata. We are impressed with the efforts of the state government in attracting such investments. With its bright talent pool, West Bengal is poised to become an important IT destination,” said Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan, CEO, Infosys Technologies. |
