HP Launches EVA4400 in Indonesia

HP introduced StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA4400) in Indonesia, designed specifically for midsize customers who need to reduce the costs and complexity of implementing a storage-area network (SAN).

According to Jim Wagstaff, Vice-President and General Manager, StorageWorks Division, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific and Japan, HP continues to invest in and expand its portfolio of entry-level storage solutions to address the specific customer business requirements of all market segments.

He adds, midsize customer has some storage challanges. First, storage growth and complexity. Second, application performance and availibility. Third, insufficient expertise in storage administration. Fourth, need for storage environment to be flexible and responsive to change. "That's why customer needs a storage array that is simple to manage with affordable price," said Wagstaff in Jakarta.

Regarding EVA product, third-party testing has shown that IT managers spend up to 75 percent less time managing the EVA due to its superior ease of use when compared to competing arrays from EMC and NetApp.

On the other hand, in a recent survey of current and planned virtualization users by analyst firm Enterprise Strategy Group, 28 percent said they plan to implement server virtualization in the next six months and 42 percent plan to deploy within the next year.
