New BOSE SoundDock Portable to Redefine iPod Experience

Atlas Sound & Vision, one of the leading suppliers of audiovisual equipment for the discerning, has introduced the Bose SoundDock Portable digital music system to the Singapore market.

The Bose SoundDock, is a speaker system for your iPod that combines high-quality audio performance and true portability. The SoundDock Portable digital music system joins the award-winning SoundDock system – a product famous for changing the way people listen to their iPod.

“Bose engineers had a clear goal: to develop a battery-powered speaker system that would match the audio quality of the original SoundDock system without increasing its size,” said John Roselli, Director, Category Management, Bose Home Entertainment Division.
“We’ve done that. The new SoundDock Portable digital music system reflects our commitment to research and our passion for offering people new ways to enjoy music.”

Now, through advanced engineering and technologies only available from Bose, the new SoundDock Portable digital music system moves easily from room to room, delivering rich, detailed sound with the convenience of a rechargeable battery.

“There are inherent challenges to maintaining audio performance in any portable sound system. It must be small and efficient, yet powerful enough to deliver low frequencies and hours of high-performance audio. In conventional systems, trade-offs can occur, where one aspect of performance – like playing time, audio quality or size – is compromised for another,” said Michael Tien, Managing Director of Atlas Sound & Vision.
For example, even small increases in volume and frequency response can have a significant effect on battery life. An additional 3dB can cut battery life in half and when adding one octave of bass, battery life typically plummets even further by 75 percent. To accommodate the batteries and acoustic components necessary for room-filling sound, conventional systems can be large and heavy. Compact systems may be lighter and easier to carry, but lack the output to deliver music with depth and clarity.

“To overcome these challenges, Bose engineers used a clean sheet approach, designing a new acoustic package, new electronics and a new power source. The result is the SoundDock Portable digital music system, creating a new standard for the iPod speaker category,” he added.
