SAVVIS has made public of its plans to expand its data center in Singapore significantly in response to a growing global customer demand for integrated hosting and network services.
“The Asia Pacific region is experiencing tremendous growth and this creates pressure on companies to manage their IT infrastructure to meet its growth requirements and at the same time manage their costs,” said Tan Aye See, Managing Director of SAVVIS, Asia Pacific.
SAVVIS, which concentrates on providing IT infrastructure services for business applications said that the expanded Singapore facility will provide a broad range of IT infrastructure services including co-location, managed hosting, virtualized and utility computing, managed networks, and security.
In addition to the Singapore facility, SAVVIS recently announced a new data center in London and significant expansion to its data center in the New York metropolitan area. Both the Singapore and London data centers will offer SAVVIS Proximity Hosting to key financial exchanges. Initially, the expanded Singapore facility will offer direct connectivity and low latency network access to the Singapore Exchange (SGX).
“SAVVIS has had great success with our managed hosting offering in the United Kingdom and the New York area, and has seen significant indications of growing demand for those services in the Asia Pacific region,” said Phil Koen, Chief Executive Officer of SAVVIS.
“We are delighted to be able to build on our existing presence and strong sales and operations teams already in place in these three excellent markets for SAVVIS’ services.
“Additionally, as major global financial centers, London and Singapore are ideally situated for expansion of our Proximity Hosting service, already in place in the New York area and in development in Chicago, which enables direct connectivity for our customers to major financial exchanges.”
Over and above the acquisition, SAVVIS said it will be making further substantial investment into Singapore to upgrade and increase the footprint in the current facility. The total facility in Singapore is expected to be approximately 18,000 sq ft of raised floor space.
SAVVIS recently acquired the Geo-Tele data center in Singapore as part of its aggressive expansion plans in the region. |
