SAP, the world’s top business software maker is planning an entry into the lucrative Product Lifecycle Management space. Oracle should quite feel threatened with the announced entry of SAP in PLM.
SAP has quietly given an insight into how it plans to grow its PLM product over the next three years. This year, SAP said, it would improve the application's core functionalities by adding new portfolio planning processes to allow new products to be created and marketed faster.
Some time next year, SAP said it will add tools for cross-country company collaboration and simplify the PLM user interface through role-based information and finally in 2009, businesses would be able to manage all product-specific data in one place and share information more effectively across relevant departments. |
