Red Hat Puts the Heat on Oracle

Red Hat is coming out with news strategies to fight its rival Oracle. The former has started to sell and provide technical support business software that runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The venture is dubbed Red Hat Exchange. The company expects this venture to whip more revenue for the company.

Red Hat had to think fast and act because Oracle started to encroach on its market space by offering discount support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux in October 2006.

"I see this as providing an intermediate alternative between Red Hat simply not playing beyond a specific section of the stack at all and doing an acquisition as with JBoss and Sistina," said Gordon Haff, an analyst at Nashua, New Hampshire. -based Illuminata.
