“Where are all the PHP 5 CMS gone?” asks Lukas Kahwe Smith in his latest post over his blog. He says, PHP4 CMS with its feature is still taking over PHP 5 CMS.
Lukas thinks that PHP4 CMS having many features is a problem. The features grew one by one without controlling their growth. Also, because of their size, it would take huge efforts to get anything remotely close to them in terms of a feature, and it makes it to rewrite things for PHP5.
He asserts that the future of CMS with PHP should not be stuck with PHP4 forever. He talks about a descent framework that will leverage all the new PHP 5 features and new established design philosophies found since the advent of PHP 5.
In this context, he talks about, three PHP 5 CMS Flux CMS, MODx and JSR-170 in the PHP scene and how Midgard and Alfresco are showing a keen interest on them.
