The Gartner Group predicts that by 2008, 80per cent of development projects will be related to service oriented architectures. BEA, IBM, and others are pouring millions into marketing around their software's readiness to take on the crucial task of providing a SOA. But are there open alternatives?
At JAX India 2007, Bryan Cheung will showcase the Liferay architecture, including the exposure of services via EJBs, Spring, JSON, and SOAPWeb Services to facilitate the rapid deployment of composite applications in an SOA context.
Bryan Cheung is the CEO and a co-founder of Liferay, Inc. Bryan believes that successful open source communities develop better software more quickly than traditional models and can provide unique solutions to corporations, non-profit organisations, and the government and education sectors. He has spoken about open source issues most recently at CeBIT 2007 and at the 2006 Openmind Conference in Finland, where he proposed that open source maximises ROG (return on giving). Bryan has also recently focused on streamlining Liferay's content management capabilities, designing a new system for tag-driven content publishing and pushing for innovative collaboration capabilities in the Liferay portal framework.
Attend Bryan’s talk and gain a good understanding of integration with the Apache ServiceMix enterprise service bus (chosen for its compatible license), and Liferay's leveraging of the JBPM Workflow engine.
