A templating system is a popular option for projects. Jonathan Street explains the reason of its popularity. Some templating systems are able to integrate little extras like caching and plugins which make it simple to create forms, menus and even image thumbnails.
He adds, although these extras are nice the key point of a templating system is to separate the 'business' logic from the presentation. He tells you that it has proved useful in his latest project.
He further talks about the Smarty templating system. He informs you that even though it is a powerful system he had migrated to TemplateLite. TemplateLite was designed to be a direct replacement for all the Smarty functionality that he was going to use and in his case, he says it worked for him.
