Dell Launches Linux Survey

Dell can’t seem to make up its mind regarding the offer of Linux to its users. The company had initially had come up with the idea to launch Linux and then backtracked on that decision. Now, the company has unveiled a Linux Web survey this week, inching towards reintroducing Linux as a factory-installed option for home or office use.

Matt Domsch, Linux software architect for Dell, said, the reason for such a decision primarily was due to 110,000 requests for Linux computers, which were posted on IdeaStorm—a site where people can voice their opinions.

"We hear your requests for desktops and notebooks with Linux," Domsch said. "We're crafting product offerings in response, but we'd like a little more direct feedback from you—your preferences, your desires."
