Google recently unveiled its Web Security for Enterprise, a web security product that lets companies provide Internet security to users in any location. The application allows organizations to control how employees use the Internet.
The product protects against Web viruses, spyware and zero-hour threats, Google said, and also protects networks and users from undesirable Web content, file types and MIME types; monitors online activity with comprehensive reporting; and reduces bandwidth congestion.
Google Web Security also allows companies to enforce Internet use policies at the user, workgroup or company level and receive comprehensive reporting on all web activities. Policy management protects companies from the legal liabilities of inappropriate content and reduces bandwidth congestion.
The product is powered by Postini, which was acquired by Google last year, uses technology from ScanSafe and is accessible from the same administration console used for security and compliance services for Google Apps. The service costs USD 36 per user per year, and an additional USD 12 per year per mobile user covered.
