Gmail is increasing the storage capacity so that users to run out of space. According to Google, users are fast using capacity with photos and other faster than the company can add at its current pace.
Google also said it will increase capacity to Google Apps users. Some say this is Google’s answer to prevent people from defecting to rival email services such as Yahoo, Hotmail, as both of redesigned their page and increased the capacity earlier this year. Google Apps users are getting a slightly better end of the deal. Standard and Educational users are getting a size match with Gmail's offerings.
"A few of you are using Gmail so much that you're running out of space, so to make good on our promise, today we're announcing we are speeding up our counter and giving out more free storage," Rob Siemborski, a Google engineer wrote on the Gmail blog.
Microsoft increased the size of its MSN email to 5 GB while Yahoo is offering unlimited storage. |
