For a long time it was believed MP3 players had changed the way people listened to music. Thousands of songs saved in small palm sized devices running for hours together.
However a damning report by New Zealand scientists could harm the MP3 party. A survey said listening to loud music on digital players could cause deafness. MP3 players are being blamed for a rise in the number of young people with permanent hearing damage.
The findings of a survey of 1000 people show seven in 10 people aged under 30 have experienced some sort of hearing dullness.
About 40 per cent of those surveyed have pointed to loud music, as the cause for their hearing problems and a quarter did not know how to protect their hearing. |
