Global communications provider, Verizon Business has brought over its Denial of Service (DoS) Defense Mitigation solutions over to Asia Pacific (AP) for the first time, making it immediately available in eight countries.
Previously only available only in the United States and 11 European countries, the service will now be available in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, India, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan and three additional European countries.
“With more organizations embracing IP, the need for enhancing security at this level becomes critical,” said Kerry Bailey, vice president of Verizon Business security solutions.
In 2006, approximately 25 percent of Internet attacks were DoS attacks, according to the 2006 CSI FBI Computer Crime and Security Survey. Distributed DoS attacks aim to make corporate networks and other resources unavailable to corporate users by flooding networks and disrupting the flow of legitimate network traffic. These attacks have the potential to severely disrupt or halt business operations, can pose a major challenge for businesses, are difficult to prevent and are best stopped at the network level.
“This business transformation to IP brings significant benefits, but also increased risk. With the combination of Verizon’s expansive global IP network and unsurpassed security expertise, Verizon DoS Defense Mitigation will help customers improve business continuity and defend against damaging DoS attacks at the network level,” continued Bailey.
Verizon DoS Defense Mitigation Services, which are ideal for medium to large enterprises and government agencies who are on continuous guard from cyber attacks is powered by Verizon’s global IP network.
It works when the DoS Mitigation services intercept and redirect malicious traffic to mitigation centers housed within Verizon’s IP backbone. Traffic is quickly rerouted before it can compromise a customer’s network.
The Verizon Business customer care portal, which has also been recently made available to AP, will allow customers to review and analyze statistics and metrics related to a mitigated attack.
Available in Chinese, Cantonese, Dutch, English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish, the portal enables customers to more easily differentiate between legitimate and illegitimate traffic to help them maintain business continuity.
“Our objective is to empower our customers; the portal enhances their control of their global communications services in a simple, easily accessible format…allows our customers to tailor the use of our network services and applications to manage their own businesses, enhancing overall productivity and efficiency,” said Nancy Gofus, chief marketing officer, Verizon Business.
Verizon, which has 18 sales offices and some 1200 staff in AP, was recently in the news for acquiring Cybertrust for an undisclosed sum of money thus enhancing the its Business Security Solutions suite to deliver end-to-end, multilayered security protection. It has also forged key partnerships with SoftBank Telecom in Japan and China Telecom in China as part of the company’s ongoing bid to provide seamless global service to its customers. |
