Apple Inc said it has sold 1 million iPhones, 74 days after introducing the device to much fanfare. This came few weeks ahead of schedule.
Last Wednesday, Apple cut the price of iPhone by USD 200 to USD 399 from USD 599. Apple said the target of selling 1 million iPhones was in end September. Analysts said the one million sales target was achieved partly due to Apple’s price cut.
The iPhone combines a touch-screen phone, Internet browser and music and video player.
"One million iPhones in 74 days -- it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod," Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs said in a statement.
Apple has said it will sell 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008. |
