Germany based business software maker SAP AG has said it has doubled its number of customers in India to 2,000 since August 2006. The firm has also announced the extension of its partnership with India’s third largest IT services exporter Wipro.
As part of the agreement, Wipro will become an SAP global services partner while establishing a solutions lab in Bangalore, where customers can test the adoption of enterprise service-oriented architecture (SOA).
SAP also revealed that it has won two major customers in India for its business software products: NTPC Ltd, which is one of the World’s largest thermal power generating company and a division of ITC Ltd. one of India’s oldest cigarette maker that also makes candies and biscuits and runs hotels.
SAP said it would focus on small- and mid-size companies in India to tap into the fastest-growing segments in the country. 'The unprecedented growth that we are seeing from India is one of the best examples of how our 2010 strategy translates into action,' chief executive Henning Kagermann said in the statement. |
