Salesforce.com has opened up its Apex programming language after nine months of being in the beta stage.
Apex is a cross between Java and classis stored procedures and is intended as a natural way to extend Salesforce's CRM application, or writing apps that could run independently in Salesforce's Platform Edition.
Apex is becoming formally available as part of the Salesforce Summer 2007 release. To that extent, Salesforce is making good on its modest promise last month at its developer conference to release Apex sometime later this year; in actuality, it will be available in August.
As a language, Apex will stay in database, like stored procedures. |
