ABOUT US The Eclipse Magazine's mission is to power the Eclipse ecosystem with top-class information that will promote and hone the use of Eclipse worldwide. Focusing exclusively on Eclipse and the community around it, the magazine will help its readership make informed decisions about putting Eclipse and related technologies to effective use. With writings on how top companies are effectively using Eclipse and Eclipse-based tools in their workplace, how developers are building plug-ins or Rich Client Platform (RCP) applications, how individuals and companies are taking advantage of opportunities and cost saving solutions, to case studies on the deployment and application of Eclipse-based tools in the enterprise, Eclipse Magazine’s solutions-oriented authoritative voice delivers cutting-edge information to influential executives, technical users, and every entity within the IT decision-maker chain. The magazine, set for a August 2006 launch, will be published monthly in a digital format. Software & Support Media has supported and evangelised Eclipse from its infancy with publishing initiatives that have substantially contributed to the dissemination of Eclipse-based information in Europe. Software & Support Media initiated its commitment to Eclipse by releasing an extensive report in the Java Magazin (www.javamagazin.de), immediately after Eclipse's worldwide launch, thus positioning itself as one of the first publications to focus on covering the Eclipse ecosystem. Since then, Eclipse has been high on Java Magazin's radar. Eclipse is also represented at JAX (www.jax.de), the leading European conference on Enterprise Java hosted by Software & Support Media. In summer 2004, the publishing house issued the first worldwide publication, focused exclusively on Eclipse: the Eclipse Magazin (www.eclipse-magazin.de). In close collaboration with the Eclipse Foundation, Software & Support Media is hosting the first edition of Eclipse Forum Europe (www.eclipseforumeurope.com) in May (May 8-11, 2006). Following in the footsteps of its successful sister publications, the Eclipse Magazine will cover a broad range of vibrant Eclipse-based topics that encompass the entire software development lifecycle. Written by industry experts who realize groundbreaking software projects based on Eclipse, the magazine will offer in-depth examinations of Eclipse sub-projects, feature-rich case studies by cutting-edge Eclipse teams and users, and articles covering the entire application lifecycle using the Eclipse IDE and other code from the Eclipse Foundation, Eclipse-based tools and plug-ins for Eclipse. The target readership includes software development practitioners, development managers, architects, test and QA managers, and others who use Eclipse and related technologies in their developmental projects. The magazine will also include a unique "Plug-in Parade" where expert Eclipse consultants present their favorite plug-ins, and provide hands-on tips and tricks to get the best out of the latest sub-projects of the Eclipse Foundation. In a fast moving community like Eclipse, groundbreaking innovations and announcements occur on a daily basis. While the magazine provides in-depth analytical reflection on leading topics, the online portal will report industry and technology news and information. The portal will have daily news updates, in-depth feature stories, online articles, company issues, technological developments, and opinion pieces on the latest trends within the community, as well as a listing of the latest product releases. The portal will also provide a forum for the community to interact, discuss relevant issues, and share tips and tricks among their peers.
