Donald Smith checks out the trends for Eclipse skills versus Visual Studio skills at indeed.com and comes up with interesting results. He finds that although the demand for Visual Studio skills has been facing inconsistent ups and downs, it sharply went up in April this year. The demand for Eclipse skills on the other hand remained consistent last year, but dropped down in April.
However, when he handicapped Eclipse with ‘Java’ on the search, the graph shows a steep rise towards the beginning of 2006, peaking at March-April 2006.
This trend bodes well for the Eclipse ecosystem, nevertheless, Donald feels the community has a long way to go till it can actually catch up with the demand for jobs.
