The Eclipse Community conducts a Release Review for the membership for every major release, and Europa, with 20 major releases, saw one giant review for all but four projects last week. The Release Review is conducted before each major release to verify that the key goals of the release have been accomplished and to verify that all intellectual property rights issues have been resolved.
The Review requires that the review materials to be distributed to the membership a week in advance of the conference call, so that the members get adequate time to read and review them. While two of the projects, viz., the Eclipse Project (Platform, JDT, PDE, Equinox) and Mylar, were not included because they did not have their review materials ready, and hence had to be excluded, two others, viz., TPTP and EMF-QVT missed out for no fault of theirs. According to Bjorn Freeman-Benson, TPTP's slides did not get into the common slide deck because of a logistical erroe by the EMO and due to another logistical error by someone else, the EMF-QVT slides did not get into the common slide deck even though they were also ready in time.
He added that the ""the Big Europa Review" parts 2 and 3 are scheduled for Friday, June 15th and Monday June 18th, and will cover these remaining projects.
