The IntelliJ v/s Eclipse for Java development debate has been on for a while now, with both IDEs seeing equally fervent support. Now it seem IntelliJ has another vote by a user who has tried both.
In this post, the author claims that Eclipse has been off late "totally flaking" on him, with frequent incidents of running out of memory and crashing, which led him to try out IntelliJ. He says the subversion support is a lot better than in Eclipse, apart from a "ton of small things" that will keep him with IntelliJ.
There are however issues with IntelliJ, the biggest being the fact that if you have more than two or three projects open it hogs system resources, which he hopes will be solved in version 7. He concludes, "The major reason people may use Eclipse over IntelliJ is price - it is one of the last “pay for” Java IDEs, but, it is probably worth doing the free trial to see how it compares to what your using now."
