Arcom to Support IBM WebSphere RFDI Device Programme
With the latest release of IBM Premises Server V6.0, IBM introduced an Eclipse open standards-based device model for integration of RFID readers, that enables clients to deploy their RFID solutions in either centralized or distributed locations to best meet their business needs, while exploiting the latest device capabilities. Arcom, manufacturer of embedded OEM computers, wearable computers, industrial controllers, and industrial network gateways, has announced commitment to IBM's new WebSphere RFID Device Program with new products available immediately to support the new Eclipse open platform.
With this announcement, Arcom's entire line of products will support the new Eclipse-based device model, and the company will show case several of these devices, including ZyPad wearable computer and the ZyWAN Cellular Routing Modem.
Arcom is pioneering the wearable computing industry, the ZyPad family of wearable computers offers advanced wireless connectivity including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, ZigBee, as well as RFID reader capability, extending the capabilities of the new Eclipse device model into new market sectors including healthcare, first responders, logistics and supply-chain markets.
The ZyWAN offers a mix of LAN/WAN wireless technologies and industrial sensor interfaces including WAN interfaces of GSM/GPRS, iDEN and EvDO/1xRTT CDMA, LAN interfaces of Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and industrial interfaces including ZigBee, GPS, and conventional RS-232/485 sensor interfaces.
