Doug Schaefer, the project lead for Eclipse CDT has announced the release of CDT 4.0 Milestone 5. This is the first public milestone release of CDT 4.0, which promises to be the biggest release of CDT till date, with over a dozen committers working on it and 265 bugs/enhancements already addressed.
CDT 4.0 requires Eclipse 3.3 M5 or later. The things to look out for are new Views like the Include Browser, Call Hierarchy View, Type Hierarchy View, and improvement in performance for Open Declaration and Content Assist. Schaefer says the managed build internal builder works better by getting dependency information out of the index but there hasn't been much change with debug and the standard builder. The release does not include Windows debugger integration, however Schaefer promises "something usable" by M6. The community is encouraged to take it out for a spin and provide feedback to ensure a good quality release of CDT 4.0.
The last release of CDT (CDT 3.1.2) runs on Eclipse 3.2.x or Callisto. It can be downloaded from the CDT Update or Callisto Discovery sites.
