Progress Software has released an evaluation kit for its OpenEdge business application platform. The kit is available for download free of cost and contains a full version of the Eclipse compatible development environment. OpenEdge is strongly aligned to the development of business logic and aims to simplify the production of component-based applications for Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs).

The free package contains the complete version of the development environment OpenEdge Architect and the OpenEdge Product Route. The OpenEdge Architect has no functional restrictions and contains components such as the development application server and personnel RDBMS. The OpenEdge Product Route offers a systematic overview of all features, with animated videos in which the functions of the entire OpenEdge product family is presented. In addition, the package also contains exercises that can be implemented with the OpenEdge Architect.
